The 18th annual conference of the EPIP Association was organised by the Chair of lntellectual Property Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration, Jagiellonian University in Kraków on September 11-13, 2019. The lead theme of the conference was “IP, Innovation and Technology: Challenging the Present, Inspiring the Future”. The conference brought together a diverse group of experts to explore the current state and future of intellectual property, innovation, and technology. Although the conference was a hybrid event, the vast majority of the participants were present in person. The conference was supported by a grant from the European Union Intellectual Property (EUIPO).
The participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions and presentations that touched on a range of issues related to these subjects, including the shifting role of IP in the world, the relationship between IP and innovation, the impact of new technologies on IP law, the balance between IP protection and open access, and the role of IP in shaping sustainable innovation systems, health policies, and business models, particularly in the digital realm.
